Confirmed: Forever Remembered names 9.45am, parade from Western Road 10.40am, silence at the West Street war memorial 11am on 8 November. Roads and buses.

Fareham’s Remembrance Day Parade and Service is on Sunday 8 November 2026, at the war memorial on West Street outside Holy Trinity Church. Fareham Borough Council confirmed the 2026 timings on 26 October: the Forever Remembered ceremony at 9.45am, the parade stepping off from Western Road at 10.40am, and the two minutes’ silence at 11am.

Updated 27 October: the council’s 2026 announcement is out and confirms the same timings and route as 2024 and 2025. It does not list road closures this year; First Bus has published its Remembrance Sunday diversions.

At the Forever Remembered ceremony, the names of those from the Fareham area who died as serving members of the British Armed Forces in a conflict are read out.

The parade marches up Kings Road onto West Street to the war memorial, under the direction of HMS Collingwood’s Parade Marshal. The council says the event is arranged with the Royal British Legion and HMS Collingwood, whose Commanding Officer attends with the Volunteer Band and platoons.

The Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Mrs Tina Ellis, said in the announcement that “Fareham has the second highest number of veterans living in the Borough, second only to Gosport” in Hampshire, and encouraged residents “to join us in paying tribute to the fallen as well as those still serving.”

The timings are the same as in 2024 and 2025.

The road closures

The council’s 2026 announcement does not list road closures. In both 2024 and 2025 its announcement closed the same five stretches to all vehicles, including cycles, from 9.45am until 12 noon:

  • Queens Road, whole length
  • Western Road, whole length
  • Kings Road, whole length
  • Hartlands Road, whole length, except buses and taxis
  • West Street, from the Hartlands Road junction to the Fareham Station roundabout

The parade still uses Western Road, Kings Road and West Street, so plan on the same closures unless the council says otherwise. We will add the 2026 list if it is published.

Bus diversions

First Bus has published its Remembrance Day diversions for 8 November. It says most will last up to three hours and gives no times for each one:

  • West Street, Fareham: all services towards Fareham divert via Western Way and do not serve West Street.
  • Titchfield Square: the X4 avoids the square via the A27, both ways.
  • Warsash village: the X5 runs via Lockswood Road, Peters Road and Brook Lane.
  • Sarisbury Green: the X5 runs via the A27, Brook Lane, Peters Road and Lockswood Road.
  • Stubbington Square: the 5 is diverted away from the village green via Stubbington Lane.

The bus company says the list is updated as it gets more information.

Parking that morning

Sunday charges are the good news here. Fareham Borough Council’s outer car parks are free on Sundays and bank holidays. The premium and inner car parks are not: Market Quay charges £1.50 an hour on a Sunday and the inner car parks £1 an hour, between 10.30am and 4pm.

With West Street shut as far as the station roundabout until midday, park away from the memorial and walk in. Full tariffs and the car park tiers are on our parking in Fareham page.

If you are driving into the borough that morning, check roadworks and travel first. The M27 junction 10 rebuild has been closing slip roads and, on some nights and weekends, whole carriageways through the autumn.

Elsewhere in the borough

Fareham Borough Council’s announcement covers the town centre parade only. Parish churches and branches of the Royal British Legion across Portchester, Titchfield, Stubbington, Warsash, Locks Heath, Whiteley and Wickham hold their own services, but none of them publishes a borough-wide list, and we are not going to invent one. Check the individual church or branch nearer the date.

Fort Nelson, the Royal Armouries’ fort on Portsdown Hill, PO17 6AN, marks the day too. It observes the two minutes’ silence at 11am and stages a specially commissioned First World War play, Our Little Fort by Time Will Tell Theatre, at 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm. Entry is free but the Royal Armouries asks you to book an arrival slot; the fort is open 10am to 4pm and parking is £3 a vehicle (Royal Armouries).
