Remembrance Sunday 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November. Fareham’s parade and service are at the war memorial on West Street, outside Holy Trinity Church, and five roads close around them for the morning.

As of 5 September 2026, Fareham Borough Council has not published its 2026 timings. That is normal: it has issued the announcement on 1 November in 2023, 6 November in 2024 and 28 October in 2025. Expect this year’s in the last week of October or the first days of November.

What follows is the shape the council itself published for 2024 and 2025, which was identical in both years. Treat it as what to expect, not as confirmed 2026 detail, and check back here or on the council’s site once the announcement lands.

At the Forever Remembered ceremony, the names of people from the Fareham area who served in the British Armed Forces and lost their lives are read out to the public.

The parade route runs from the Duke of Connaught’s Own Club on Western Road, up Kings Road and onto West Street, finishing at the war memorial.

HMS Collingwood leads it, in partnership with the Royal British Legion. The shore establishment’s Commanding Officer attends, with the Volunteer Band and platoons.

The five road closures

In both 2024 and 2025 the council closed the same five stretches from 9.45am until 12 noon:

  • Queens Road, whole length
  • Western Road, whole length
  • Kings Road, whole length
  • Hartlands Road, whole length, except buses and taxis
  • West Street, from the Hartlands Road junction to the Fareham Station roundabout

The Hartlands Road exception is the one worth knowing. Buses and taxis get through, so a bus into town is the easier way in than driving. The West Street closure runs right up to the station roundabout, which is the stretch most people would otherwise use to reach the station car parks.

Parking that morning

Sunday charges are the good news here. Fareham Borough Council’s outer car parks are free on Sundays and bank holidays. The premium and inner car parks are not: Market Quay charges £1.50 an hour on a Sunday and the inner car parks £1 an hour, between 10.30am and 4pm.

With West Street shut as far as the station roundabout until midday, park away from the memorial and walk in. Full tariffs and the car park tiers are on our parking in Fareham page.

If you are driving into the borough that morning, check roadworks and travel first. The M27 junction 10 rebuild has been closing slip roads and, on some nights and weekends, whole carriageways through the autumn.

Fareham Borough Council’s announcement covers the town centre parade only. Parish churches and branches of the Royal British Legion across Portchester, Titchfield, Stubbington, Warsash, Locks Heath, Whiteley and Wickham hold their own services, but none of them publishes a borough-wide list, and we are not going to invent one. Check the individual church or branch nearer the date.
